Local Groups on Board
We have support from a range of local groups including VCC, Malborough Trails BMX club, Sopwell Community Trust (who currently hire the pavilion for prayer meetings); local primary and secondary schools, churches and the Sopwell Children’s Centre. Many local activity groups have expressed interest in using the facility, such as St Albans FoodBank, Woodcraft Folk and Play Street Café. There is also interest from local home-schoolers, home-workers and a local Repair Shed. We also have strong links with Sustainable St Albans.
Further Support from Local Government
St Albans District Council has allocated us a senior officer, Richard Shwe, and a lead portfolio holder Councillor Julian Daly, to help us work on our ideas. We understand the council want to support us, but probably will not be able to contribute much financially.
We also have the support of local Herts County Councillor, Sandy Walkington, and are in the process of contacting other members of Herts County Council for support and advice and to see if we can help deliver any of their initiatives (e.g. health & wellbeing, youth, elderly, and sustainable transport initiatives).
Whether you are part of a group or business, or an interested individual, please get in touch to find out how you can help, and how we can help you!
